For this project, I chose the Medieval period as my inspiration for a potato chip package design, combining it with the style of the popular brand "Doritos" to create "Meditos." Incorporating Medieval design elements like the "blemmyae" creature and patterns from Medieval letterforms, I infused humor and entertainment to align with the chips' brand personality.
To add historical context, I included information about Medieval curing techniques used to preserve food. The package design features Gothic fonts and wordplay in the slogan "Serving You the Beast," referencing Medieval feudalism where people served those above them. This wordplay humorously connects potato chips, portrayed as a Medieval creature or "beast," being served to us, the buyers of Meditos.
